In a groundbreaking move within the European lubricants industry, TotalEnergies Lubricants has expanded its eco-friendly initiatives by collaborating with Bericap to develop an innovative closure for 20-litre lubricant containers. This pioneering closure incorporates 50% post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR), marking a significant advancement in sustainable packaging that adheres to the stringent DIN 60 standards for lubricants.

This partnership builds upon TotalEnergies Lubricants' ongoing commitment to integrating recycled plastics into its premium lubricant bottles manufactured in Belgium and France. The newly developed closures, comprised of half PCR material, will be utilized for the brand's 20-litre premium lubricant cans produced in these regions.

At the core of this innovation lies the utilization of RE:clic, a product from TotalEnergies' circular polymer range, as the primary raw material. Bericap transforms this material, which combines mechanically recycled polyethylene with a performance-enhancing additive, into closures for TotalEnergies Lubricants, ensuring quality akin to virgin plastic. The transition to the lighter DIN 60 ECO closure, which reduces weight by 25% compared to the previous standard, underscores a commitment to fostering a circular economy.

TotalEnergies Lubricants is dedicated to reducing its reliance on virgin plastics by gradually implementing these recycled closures across its lubricant product range. This initiative exemplifies the shared vision and commitment of both TotalEnergies Lubricants and Bericap toward advancing a circular economy.
