Tata Cummins unveils new hydrogen engine plant in Jamshedpur

Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL) has commenced the construction of a new facility in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, dedicated to hydrogen-based engines, aimed at manufacturing internal combustion engines for medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Spanning approximately seven acres, the factory was opened within a year of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand government. Alongside engines, the facility will produce a range of low- to zero-emission technology products.

Spanning approximately seven acres, the factory was opened within a year of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand government. Alongside engines, the facility will produce a range of low- to zero-emission technology products.


Established as a joint venture between Tata Motors Limited and Cummins Inc. USA, TCPL inaugurated TCPL Green Energy Solutions (TCPL GES), a subsidiary, in March 2023. This subsidiary is specifically focused on designing and developing low and zero-emission propulsion technology solutions to combat climate change and improve air quality by curbing greenhouse gas emissions.


Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, expressed his thoughts at the inauguration, highlighting that Tata Motors' long-standing legacy of contributing to nation-building, innovation, and pioneering industry initiatives gains further momentum with the establishment of this modern manufacturing facility.
