The launch of Savsol Ester 5 by Savita Oil, headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, marks a significant stride in the company’s product line. Savita Oil inaugurated its new synthetic ester plant with an expandable capacity of 8,000 metric tonnes per year in Mahad, Maharashtra, India, on October 17, 2023. The company aims to ramp up production from the current 2,000 metric tonnes to 4,000 metric tonnes by October 2024.
Esters denote a class of synthetic lubricant base stocks derived from organic acids and alcohols, classified as Group V in the American Petroleum Institute's base oil categorization system. Group V encompasses base oils beyond Groups I through IV, including chemically engineered oils such as phosphate esters, polyalkylene glycols (PAGs), and various synthetic esters.
