PSP Energy Berhad is set to widen its presence in Malaysia’s lubricants market after securing a new distributorship agreement with Sinopec Lubricant Co. Ltd.

The company’s wholly owned subsidiary, PSP Lubricants (M) Sdn. Bhd., has been named an authorised distributor for Sinopec lubricant products in Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. The appointment gives PSP Lubricants responsibility for supplying Sinopec’s lubricant range to customers across industrial, commercial and transportation-related sectors within these markets.

The move represents an expansion of PSP Energy’s existing downstream energy activities, while giving the group access to a broader range of automotive, industrial and specialised lubricant products. By entering into the arrangement with Sinopec, PSP Energy also aims to strengthen its distribution reach in areas beyond Malaysia’s main metropolitan markets, where demand from businesses and transport operators continues to provide growth opportunities.

Sinopec is a major Chinese energy and petrochemical group with an established international presence. Its lubricants business covers products designed for a wide range of automotive and industrial applications, providing PSP Energy with an established international brand to complement its existing product offering.

Group managing director Ong Chee Seng said the distributorship was an important milestone in the group’s efforts to develop its lubricants segment. He noted that working with a globally recognised brand such as Sinopec would complement PSP Energy’s existing distribution capabilities, industry knowledge and customer network, while supporting the group’s expansion into additional regional markets.

PSP Group, which was established in 2010, operates as a Malaysian downstream energy solutions provider. Its businesses include fuel trading and distribution, marine bunkering and the distribution of lubricants.
