Turin, Italy: Commercial vehicle manufacturer IVECO and PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) have renewed their long-standing strategic partnership for another five years, extending their collaboration through 2032.
The renewed agreement builds on a relationship spanning more than five decades and reaffirms both companies' shared commitment to innovation, performance, and sustainability in the commercial transportation sector.
As part of the agreement, PLI will continue to develop and supply a comprehensive range of lubricants and technical fluids specifically engineered for IVECO's commercial vehicles across Europe. The portfolio includes engine oils, transmission fluids, brake fluids, and coolants designed to meet the demanding operating conditions of IVECO's vehicle range.
One of the key outcomes of the collaboration has been the co-development of the IVECO URANIA engine oil range and IVECO TUTELA technical fluids, which remain the only lubricants officially approved and recommended by IVECO. Developed through decades of joint research and engineering, the products are designed to maximise vehicle uptime, improve fuel efficiency, and extend component life.
The partnership's latest innovation is Urania Next 0W-16, described as the industry's first SAE 0W-16 engine oil developed specifically for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. The formulation is designed to improve fuel economy, reduce CO₂ emissions, extend oil drain intervals, and support the requirements of Euro 7-compliant IVECO engines.
Commenting on the renewed partnership, Domenico Nucera, Chief Quality & Operations Officer at Iveco Group, said the agreement reflects the strength of a long-standing collaboration built on shared technical expertise and a common goal of continuously improving vehicle performance, efficiency, and sustainability. He added that the joint development of the IVECO URANIA and IVECO TUTELA product ranges enables the company to deliver solutions that reduce total cost of ownership while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability for customers and dealer networks.
The renewed partnership also places greater emphasis on strengthening IVECO's dealer network. PLI will introduce initiatives focused on increasing dealer engagement and raising customer awareness of IVECO-approved lubricants, supporting business growth while enhancing vehicle reliability across European markets.
Domenico Ciaglia, Group Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer at PETRONAS Lubricants International, said the renewal demonstrates the value of a long-term partnership built on innovation, consistency, and a shared commitment to excellence. He noted that continuous collaboration has enabled the co-development of market-leading technologies, including the Urania Next 0W-16 engine oil, which has been seamlessly integrated into IVECO's commercial vehicle ecosystem.
Ciaglia added that PLI remains committed to supporting Iveco Group with high-performance lubricant solutions that create long-term value for customers, dealers, and fleet operators while reinforcing the company's broader strategy of technical excellence and trusted partnerships.
The extended agreement highlights both companies' continued focus on advancing sustainable mobility, improving operational efficiency, and delivering greater value to commercial vehicle operators worldwide.
