SAIC Motor, the Chinese automaker and parent company of MG, along with Castrol, has announced a strategic partnership spanning three years to introduce a new co-branded lubricant specifically tailored for MG vehicles in Central and Eastern Europe. This collaboration represents the inaugural venture of these esteemed brands outside of China, united under the banner “MG recommends Castrol.”

This collaboration represents the inaugural venture of these esteemed brands outside of China, united under the banner “MG recommends Castrol.”
The partnership was officially revealed in Budapest, Hungary, on April 15, 2024, where both companies reiterated their commitment to enhancing vehicle performance and efficiency across MG’s diverse product lineup. The newly introduced co-branded lubricant, Castrol EDGE 0W20 C5, is now endorsed by MG for use in its vehicles, encompassing both traditional internal combustion engines and battery electric vehicles.
Baozheng Wang, Vice President of Global Business at Castrol, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to embark on this journey with MG in Europe. This partnership exemplifies the strength of collaboration in generating value. Together with MG, we anticipate unlocking new avenues for enhancing customer experiences.”

The new Castrol MG product will be introduced for the first time to car owners in Hungary, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Greece, Slovakia, and Croatia.
