Lubrizol has introduced AT9311, a next-generation automatic transmission fluid (ATF) additive developed to support a wide spectrum of passenger vehicles, from conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) cars to advanced hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
Unveiled in Shanghai, China, AT9311 is engineered for high, low, and ultra-low viscosity formulations, making it a versatile solution tailored to the complex demands of China’s rapidly expanding automotive aftermarket. With a growing number of luxury and new energy vehicles reaching the end of their warranty periods, the need for high-performance ATF products is accelerating.
AT9311 features a single-additive formulation that reduces threat rates without compromising on original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-level performance. It is fully compatible with modern 9- and 10-speed automatic transmissions as well as hybrid drivetrains, offering robust electrical safety and material compatibility—key factors in new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrain performance.
The additive has undergone rigorous validation, including lab simulations, over 100,000 kilometers of on-road testing, and close collaboration with local Chinese automakers.
Henry Liu, Vice President of Lubrizol Asia Pacific, emphasized that this launch embodies the company’s dual commitment to global innovation and local market relevance. He highlighted that the complexity of the Chinese market has pushed Lubrizol to adapt top-tier technology to regional needs through data-driven testing and engineering.
Lubrizol reports that AT9311 has already gained traction among leading premium vehicle brands and top lubricant manufacturers in China. The product is positioned as a strategic tool to help customers lower costs, simplify product portfolios, and deliver exceptional wear protection under demanding thin-film operating conditions.
Looking forward, Lubrizol aims to deepen its local collaborations and continue driving the shift toward a more efficient, high-performance, and sustainable automotive aftermarket in China.
