Indian Oil Corp. (IOC) has introduced its new high-octane racing fuel, STORM-X, at the Madras International Circuit during the Indian National Car Racing Championship. This groundbreaking initiative, driven by IOC Chairman Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, highlights the company’s dedication to innovation and excellence in advanced fuel technology.
The launch event celebrated a strategic partnership between IOC and the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), aiming to elevate the quality and competitiveness of motorsports in India. V Satish Kumar, Director (Marketing) of IOC, officially unveiled the STORM-X brand logo, alongside key figures like Alok Sharma, Director (R&D) of IOC, and prominent MMSC officials including President Ajit Thomas, Secretary Prabha Shankar, and Vice President Vicky Chandhoke.
Kumar emphasized IOC’s legacy of pioneering high-quality fuels and lubricants, such as India’s first 100 octane fuel, XP100, and the eco-friendly XTRAGREEN diesel. He reiterated IOC’s commitment to supporting motorsports, noting their role as the title sponsor of MotoGP Bharat 2023 and their partnership with FIM for the Asia Road Racing Championship from 2024 to 2026.
STORM-X: Ushering in a new era of racing fuel STORM-X is engineered to deliver maximum performance while complying with Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) regulations. With a Research Octane Number (RON) of approximately 98, STORM-X provides superior combustion and power, reducing engine knock and enabling higher compression ratios and aggressive ignition timing. This ensures peak performance and reliability for high-performance racing cars.
Aligned with the growing focus on sustainability in motorsport, STORM-X incorporates sustainable fuel components to help reduce the sport’s carbon footprint. This innovative fuel blends high performance with environmental responsibility.
Thomas expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with IOC, recognizing it as a crucial step in advancing motorsports technology and delivering an unmatched racing experience in India. The collaboration between IOC and MMSC will see IOC supplying race fuels and lubricants, along with venue and vehicle branding during the Indian National Racing Championships.
IOC’s initiatives support the mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat, focusing on import substitution by producing aviation gasoline (AVGAS 100LL) for Flying Training Organizations and defense forces. The company also supplies reference fuels required by certification bodies and automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
