Idemitsu introduces its first plant-based racing engine oil

Japanese lubricant manufacturer Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. has unveiled the “IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing,” the world’s first API SP-certified engine oil made with over 80% plant-based materials. This groundbreaking product, set to launch in November 2024, marks a significant advancement in sustainable automotive technology.

The IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing, with a viscosity grade of 0W-20, not only meets but exceeds the rigorous performance standards of the American Petroleum Institute (API), including fuel efficiency, heat resistance, and wear protection. This makes it an ideal choice for racing applications where both high performance and environmental sustainability are critical.

In addition to its API SP certification, this innovative engine oil has received the Biomass Mark certification from the Japan Organics Recycling Association, confirming its use of sustainable resources. This product expands upon the popular “IDEMITSU IFG/IRG Series,” which has gained a strong following among driving enthusiasts in 13 countries where Idemitsu operates its lubricant business.
