FUCHS Lubricants (UK) plc has announced a significant investment in a new, state-of-the-art quality control (QC) laboratory at its manufacturing facility in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. The investment marks another milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to expand and modernise its UK operations.
The new laboratory builds on recent upgrades to FUCHS UK’s blending and filling infrastructure, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities, improving operational flexibility, and supporting future growth in the UK market.
According to David Simpson, Quality Control Manager at FUCHS UK, the continued development of lubricant technology is increasing the demands placed on quality assurance. Modern lubricants are designed to meet stringent OEM specifications, perform reliably under extreme operating conditions, and comply with increasingly stringent global regulations. The new laboratory features advanced analytical technologies designed to deliver faster, more accurate, and more reliable testing across a wide range of parameters.
Located at the centre of the Hanley manufacturing site alongside the blending and filling operations, the new QC laboratory enables real-time quality verification and helps reduce testing turnaround times. Its location also improves collaboration between the quality control and operations teams. In addition, the facility supports improved health and safety practices by reducing the need for lone working, particularly as the QC team operates around the clock.
As part of the investment, FUCHS UK has installed two new Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) analysers, an advanced water purification system, and an automated pour point analyser. Existing laboratory equipment has also been redeployed to the Customer Service Laboratory, further increasing the company’s overall testing capacity.
Richard Rogers, CEO of FUCHS Lubricants (UK) plc, said the investment is focused on developing the capabilities required for the future. By placing a high-tech QC facility at the heart of its manufacturing operations, FUCHS UK aims to strengthen product consistency, accelerate innovation, and respond more quickly to evolving customer requirements.
