Castrol has introduced its new suite of smart industrial lubrication solutions aimed at increasing equipment uptime, reducing maintenance costs, and extending machinery life for manufacturers.

Branded as Castrol Intelligent Lubrication Solutions, the initiative combines advanced lubricants and technical expertise with real-time monitoring and predictive analytics, marking a major step in Castrol’s journey towards digital solutions for industrial customers.

Cassandra Higham, Industrial Director at Castrol, stated that the company’s vision is to shift lubrication management from a reactive approach to a predictive one. “Our new platform provides near real-time visibility and actionable insights, enabling manufacturers to better navigate challenges such as labour shortages and rapid digitalisation,” she said.

The initial phase focuses on sensor-enabled neat oil applications leveraging IoT-based technologies. These solutions have already shown strong results in industries such as automotive and steel. Castrol reported that a U.S. steel producer saved over USD 100,000 within six weeks by detecting water ingress early and preventing major equipment failure. Another customer avoided three full oil changes in a year, significantly reducing waste and operational expenses.

Looking ahead, Castrol plans to expand into predictive monitoring for metalworking fluids and enhance its analytics capabilities. Additionally, the company is working with SKF RecondOil to develop oil reconditioning services aimed at minimising waste through on-site lubrication optimisation.

Higham emphasised that the true value of the initiative lies in transforming operational data into actionable intelligence, backed by Castrol’s 125 years of lubrication expertise. The company is offering flexible value-assessment models to deliver measurable benefits with minimal disruption to client operations.
