Castrol Unveils New Cyltech Lubricant Range for Two-Stroke Marine Engines
Castrol, a global leader in lubricants, has introduced its new Castrol Cyltech 70f, 100f, and 140f range to meet the evolving needs of the slow-speed two-stroke engine market.
This upgraded marine diesel engine cylinder lubricant series is formulated with high-quality base oils and advanced additive technology to minimize deposit buildup on pistons, piston rings, and cylinder liners, helping to reduce wear and operational challenges. Additionally, the Castrol Cyltech range offers enhanced thermal and oxidative stability to ensure optimal engine performance.
Key Features of the New Cyltech Range:
Castrol Cyltech 70f: Designed to maintain engine cleanliness and protection, particularly under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions in modern engines.
Castrol Cyltech 100f & 140f: Engineered with special additives and high-quality base oils to guard against corrosive wear, especially in fuel-efficient two-stroke engines.
Industry Approvals and Performance Testing
The Castrol Cyltech range has undergone over 75,000 hours of field testing, earning approvals from leading engine manufacturers MAN ES, WinGD, and JEC. Both Castrol Cyltech 70f and 100f have been certified by these manufacturers, while Castrol Cyltech 140f is expected to receive approval by the end of 2025.
Castrol’s Legacy in Lubrication Excellence
Eda Gökay, Global Marine and Energy Marketing Manager at Castrol, emphasized Castrol’s long-standing commitment to delivering market-leading lubrication solutions.
"For 125 years, Castrol has been a pioneer in lubricant innovation. The re-formulated Castrol Cyltech range demonstrates our dedication to providing high-performance protection that keeps liners, pistons, and piston rings clean in two-stroke engines," said Gökay.
With a strong track record of 500 customers, 8,000 vessels, and over 30 million sailing hours, Castrol Cyltech has consistently supported marine operators in managing varying fuel sulfur levels, optimizing feed rates, and adapting to operational conditions.
"The new Castrol Cyltech range offers ship operators and crews the confidence they need for enhanced engine health and reliable performance," Gökay added.
Availability and Support
The Castrol Cyltech 70f and 100f lubricants will be available in selected regions starting March 2025, while Castrol Cyltech 140f will follow upon completion of approval processes.
Castrol will provide comprehensive technical support, including its condition-based monitoring services, which combine the company’s engineering expertise with cutting-edge technology to help optimize engine performance and longevity.
