BP Castrol Lubricants (M) Sdn. Bhd. has been awarded product certification under Malaysia’s SIRIM 58 Standard for Genuine Products, a move designed to strengthen consumer confidence and curb the circulation of counterfeit engine oils.

Castrol now joins other lubricant brands—such as PETRONAS, Motul (through Specialty Lubricants Trading [Malaysia] Sdn. Bhd., the authorised distributor of Motul Asia Pacific), Mayshowa Auto Parts Sdn. Bhd., and Kroon Oil (via its Malaysian distributor Kai Shen Marketing Sdn. Bhd.)—in obtaining SIRIM 58 certification.

Administered by SIRIM QAS International, the standard involves rigorous inspections, audits, and conformity checks to verify the authenticity and quality of motor oils, thereby protecting motorists while safeguarding the interests of legitimate manufacturers.

The certificate presentation ceremony was held on 18 August 2025 at Castrol’s Kuala Lumpur office. Ts. Md. Adina Rahmat, Chief Executive of SIRIM QAS International, officially presented the certificate to Gan Wee Kiong, Country Sales Director for Malaysia and Singapore at BP Castrol Lubricants.

Industry experts note that the recognition underscores Castrol’s commitment to quality assurance and sets a benchmark for other lubricant players in tackling product counterfeiting.
