Shell Malaysia has celebrated 26 years of technical partnership with Ducati Corse in MotoGP by unveiling its latest flagship motorcycle lubricant — Shell Advance Ultra 10W-50 (API SP) — at the 2025 MotoGP held at the Sepang International Circuit.
The new premium lubricant, formulated with Shell PurePlus Technology, is produced using a gas-to-liquid (GTL) process that transforms natural gas into a crystal-clear base oil with 99.5% purity. This advanced formulation delivers enhanced engine power, superior protection, and improved performance, while meeting the latest API SP standard for modern motorcycle engines.
According to Darlina Mohd Sibi, Cluster General Manager for Shell Lubricants in Malaysia, Singapore, and Southeast Asia, “Shell Advance continues to bring race-proven innovation from the MotoGP track to everyday riders.” Co-developed with Ducati and tested under extreme racing conditions, the new oil reflects Shell’s ongoing commitment to innovation and performance leadership.
A recent blind comparison test between Shell Advance Ultra and an ester-based competitor revealed that riders consistently preferred Shell’s formulation for its quicker acceleration, smoother gear shifts, and quieter engine performance.
Shell Advance remains the exclusive motorcycle engine oil used and recommended by Ducati Corse, contributing to Ducati’s historic triple win in the 2025 MotoGP Teams, Constructors, and Riders’ Championships, led by Marc Márquez. Shell reports that Advance Ultra can retain horsepower for up to 20,000 km, deliver a 90% cleaner engine, and improve fuel efficiency by up to 5 km per litre.
Mauro Grassilli, Ducati Corse Sporting Director, remarked that the long-standing partnership with Shell continues to push the boundaries of technology, allowing riders to experience MotoGP-level performance on the road.
The launch also kicks off the #CrazyGoodOil campaign in Malaysia, featuring Ducati stars Marc Márquez and Francesco Bagnaia, supported by a series of consumer and trade engagement activities.
Alongside the new Advance Ultra 10W-50, the Shell Advance range also includes Power 15W-50, Long Ride 10W-40, and the AX7 semi-synthetic series. More than 140 mechanics from Shell’s Global Master Mechanic Programme attended the launch weekend, celebrating the brand’s legacy of technical excellence and innovation.
