ENEOS Corporation has announced a new collaboration with NVIDIA and Preferred Computational Chemistry Inc. (PFCC) to advance the AI-driven discovery and optimization of lubricants and immersion cooling fluids. The partnership brings together NVIDIA's ALCHEMI software and PFCC's Matlantis™ simulator to support ENEOS's mission of developing more sustainable, high-performance chemical solutions—particularly for energy-intensive sectors like data centers.

ENEOS has already been utilizing Matlantis in the development of advanced materials, including catalysts, lubricants, and polymers. By integrating NVIDIA ALCHEMI into its R&D process, the company aims to accelerate chemical research and innovation. This is especially relevant to data centers, where the demand for high-efficiency immersion cooling fluids and durable lubricants is rapidly increasing due to rising workloads and thermal management needs.

The collaboration enhances ENEOS’s R&D capabilities through AI-powered simulations, allowing for quicker, more accurate modeling of chemical interactions. With NVIDIA’s computing infrastructure, these simulations are significantly faster and better aligned with performance targets than conventional methods. One major advantage of ALCHEMI is its ability to optimize formulations specifically for desired chemical properties.

Yuichiro Fujiyama, Senior Vice President at ENEOS, emphasized that this alliance marks a major step toward the company’s broader innovation strategy in energy, resources, and materials. He expressed confidence that combining ALCHEMI with Matlantis will boost the speed and effectiveness of ENEOS’s product development while contributing to a more sustainable future.

ENEOS is also a leader in immersion cooling technology, particularly with its ENEOS IX series. These non-conductive fluids directly cool server hardware by immersion, offering better energy efficiency, reduced noise, and improved processing performance compared to traditional air-cooling systems. The IX series is also designed to meet environmental standards, making it a preferred choice for eco-conscious data center operators.

Looking ahead, ENEOS plans to extend its use of AI in R&D beyond cooling and lubrication, exploring opportunities in catalyst and polymer development as part of its strategy to drive innovation across a range of industrial applications.
