Shell India Launches Upgraded Helix Ultra Motor Oil with New API SQ Standard and Global Brand Campaign
Shell India has unveiled its enhanced Shell Helix Ultra motor oil, now compliant with the latest API SQ standard, alongside refreshed packaging across the Helix range. The launch also introduced Shell’s new global brand campaign in India, fronted by Ferrari Formula One drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

At the core of the upgraded Helix Ultra is Shell PurePlus Technology, which transforms natural gas into a 99.5% pure base oil. Independent testing has demonstrated performance benefits including up to 1.8% more engine power, 3.4% greater responsiveness, and sustained engine performance over time. Together, these improvements support smoother driving, enhanced fuel efficiency, and long-lasting protection.

According to Amit Ghugre, Chief Marketing Officer, Shell India Lubricants, the milestone underscores Shell’s dual commitment to innovation and customer-centricity. He emphasized that the new formulation and packaging not only strengthen the Helix portfolio but also highlight Shell’s enduring collaborations with leading automakers.

The refreshed packaging design has been developed to improve shelf visibility and simplify product navigation for consumers. Shell continues to partner with major manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Nissan, and BMW M Motorsports, reinforcing its position as a premium performance lubricant brand.

The India launch event featured a live Ferrari pit stop demonstration, interactive fan engagements, and a BMW M Motorsports driving showcase, drawing strong participation from industry experts, enthusiasts, and customers alike.

The unveiling was aligned with Shell’s new global campaign, “Unleash the Power Within”, which celebrates the company’s 75-year partnership with Ferrari and its legacy of innovation in motorsport.


For the 18th consecutive year, Shell has been ranked the world’s leading lubricant supplier by consultancy Kline & Company. With the new Helix Ultra, Shell reaffirms its promise to deliver superior engine protection, performance, and reliability across global markets.
