The Lubrizol Corporation, headquartered in Wickliffe, Ohio, USA, has opened a new Southeast Asia Innovation Centre in Jurong, Singapore, to strengthen its regional footprint and accelerate market-driven innovations across multiple industries. The cutting-edge facility is part of Lubrizol’s global innovation network and reflects the company’s commitment to closer collaboration and faster delivery of fit-for-market solutions in Southeast Asia.
Covering 15,000 square metres over several floors, the Innovation Centre houses advanced laboratories, interactive experience zones, and dedicated areas for technical training and knowledge sharing. Local scientists and product developers will leverage in-region R&D capabilities, decision science, and cross-functional teamwork to create impactful solutions in mobility, infrastructure, data technology, mining, beauty and personal care, and healthcare.
The launch was supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), highlighting the city-state’s position as a strategic hub for innovation, advanced manufacturing, and sustainability.
Henry Liu, Vice President of Lubrizol Asia Pacific, described the investment as a strong demonstration of the company’s commitment to the region and its goal of co-developing technologies that address evolving market needs. President and CEO Rebecca Liebert noted that Singapore’s vibrant R&D ecosystem and well-established network of partners made it the ideal location for the new centre.
With over 65 years of operations in Asia Pacific, Lubrizol has built a strong record of delivering market-relevant innovations. The new facility complements its Asia Pacific Suncare Formulation Centre—also in Singapore—which has earned global recognition for technical excellence.
To commemorate the opening, Lubrizol signed two memoranda of understanding: one with United Oil, a Repsol joint venture specialising in lubricants and specialty fluids, and another with the EDB. These agreements aim to foster joint innovation, expand product development capabilities, and explore new investments over the next five years.
According to Lim Wey-Lell, Executive Vice President of the EDB, the new centre reinforces Singapore’s role as a launchpad for sustainable industrial solutions, while creating high-quality jobs and advancing collaborative R&D in the chemicals sector.
