Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 23: Klüber Lubrication, a global leader in specialty lubricants, proudly announces a major expansion of its Mysore operations facility, set to be fully operational by early 2027. Klüber India's Mysore manufacturing plant, currently spread over 17,000 sq. m, produces world-class specialty lubricants. The company recently committed an investment of Rs 142 crores to further enhance its operations in India, reinforcing its commitment to 'Make in India' by boosting domestic production.
The plant will feature a state-of-the-art production facility equipped with cutting-edge technology tailored to Klüber Lubrication's specialized needs. As part of this investment, Klüber will obtain new certifications such as IATF (for automotive customers) and ISO 21469 (for food-grade lubricants), while enhancing R&D infrastructure and accelerating the market introduction of new products. These enhancements will enable Klüber Lubrication to expand its operations, introduce high-value product lines, and seamlessly relocate global products to better serve its clientele.
A groundbreaking ceremony recently took place in Mysore, attended by esteemed Freudenberg Chemical Specialities board members Dr. Joerg Matthias Grossmann, Filip Krulis, and Dr. Sebastian Weiss; Klüber board members Dr. Wolfgang Sammer and Markus Murmann; Klüber India leadership team Hitendra Bhargava, Vishal Almal, and Kanakaraju Thangavel; and Head of Global Product Innovation & Regional Board Member APAC, Dr. Stefan Seemeyer.
Hitendra Bhargava, CEO and Regional Management Board Member Asia Pacific at Klüber Lubrication, emphasized the transformative impact of this expansion, stating, "By integrating a new production hall and world-class infrastructure, we aim to offer state-of-the-art specialty products that will be locally manufactured. Ultimately, this initiative aligns with the self-reliance India mission (Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan) launched by the Government of India. This investment helps us to be closer and faster to our customers not just in India, but across the entire APAC region."
Kanakaraju Thangavel, CTO of Klüber Lubrication India, highlighted the regional impact of this expansion, stating, "This is a significant benefit to our customers in Southeast Asia, especially given the supply chain challenges the world has faced in recent years due to geopolitical disruptions. This investment reflects our confidence in the region and our dedication to exceeding customer expectations. We are ready to elevate operations, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the region's development."
Klüber Lubrication's expansion in Mysore also underscores the organization's focus on sustainability. With the aid of solar panels installed on the roof, the plant derives more than half of its energy from renewable sources. In 2024, Klüber Lubrication won the prestigious EcoVadis gold medal for sustainability for the third consecutive year, placing it in the top 5% of over 130,000 companies rated worldwide.
