Infineum, the UK-based additive manufacturer, and Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. (IOCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration in lubricant technology and explore long-term business opportunities within India’s evolving mobility sector.

Infineum, the UK-based additive manufacturer, and Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. (IOCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration in lubricant technology and explore long-term business opportunities within India’s evolving mobility sector.

The MoU was signed on 3 November 2025 in Mumbai by Bakim Patra, IOCL’s Executive Director for Lubricants, and Harshad Jambaulikar, General Manager of Infineum India. Both companies said the partnership will enhance technical cooperation and support the development of solutions tailored to India’s rapidly transforming transport landscape—driven by stricter emissions norms, higher fuel efficiency targets, and the shift toward cleaner mobility.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will work together on formulation development, performance optimisation, and knowledge exchange. According to both parties, the collaboration is expected to accelerate the rollout of advanced lubricant technologies for passenger vehicles, commercial fleets, and industrial applications as demand for high-performance products continues to rise in India.

Patra noted that the partnership aligns with IOCL’s strategy to strengthen engagement with global technology leaders as it modernises its lubricants business. Jambaulikar added that the MoU builds on their longstanding relationship and sets the foundation for creating long-term mutual value.

India remains one of the world’s largest lubricant markets, supported by a rapidly expanding vehicle fleet and a sizeable commercial transport sector. In recent years, domestic refiners and global additive companies have increasingly collaborated to meet advanced performance requirements and support national goals on efficiency and emissions reduction.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Further activities under the MoU will be outlined through dedicated work programmes and technical evaluations.
