Specialty chemicals company LANXESS has commenced local production of Reolube fire-resistant hydraulic fluids (FRHF) at its manufacturing facility in Jhagadia, Gujarat, reinforcing India's role in the company's global growth strategy.

According to LANXESS, the new production line supports its local-for-local manufacturing approach while aligning with the Government of India's Make in India initiative. The investment leverages the company's global technology expertise and regional manufacturing footprint to serve customers across India, the Middle East, and other international markets.

The Jhagadia facility will manufacture Reolube phosphate ester-based fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, which are designed for applications where fire safety, equipment protection, and operational reliability are critical. Local production is expected to improve product availability and strengthen supply capabilities across India and the broader India, Middle East and Africa (IMEA) region.

LANXESS said the investment is driven by India's expanding industrial base, supported by increasing investments in power generation and the rapid growth of energy-intensive industries such as data centres and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Lubricant Additives business unit at LANXESS, said local production of Reolube fire-resistant hydraulic fluids marks an important step in strengthening customer proximity and supply reliability in one of the company's fastest-growing markets. He added that the investment reflects LANXESS's confidence in India's long-term growth potential and its commitment to delivering globally proven, high-performance solutions closer to customers.

The Jhagadia expansion complements the company's broader growth strategy in India, which also includes the recently inaugurated application development centre in Thane. The facility is intended to enhance technical support, product development, and customer collaboration.

LANXESS said the combined investments will strengthen its regional integration, improve supply chain resilience, and reinforce its position as a leading local supplier of specialty chemical solutions for customers in India and the wider region.
