French synthetic lubricant company NYCO has announced that its manufacturing facility in Newnan, which was inaugurated in mid-2025, is now fully operational. The plant is currently producing NYCOBASE synthetic ester base oils to cater to the North American market.

Situated within Shenandoah Industrial Park, roughly 30 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the facility marks NYCO’s first production site in the United States. It is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and improve service responsiveness for regional customers.

The facility is headed by Frank Kroto, who serves as General Manager of NYCO America and brings over two decades of experience in the lubricants sector.

Production at the site includes two main product categories under the NYCOBASE® brand:

  • Synthetic ester base oils for industrial and automotive applications, available across a wide range of viscosities and chemistries for high-performance lubricant formulations

  • NYCOBASE FG food-grade ester base oils, which are NSF HX-1 certified and specifically designed for H1 food-grade lubricant applications in food processing environments

These food-grade esters are formulated to meet stringent safety standards and are free from PFAS and MOAH. PFAS are a broad group of synthetic chemicals known for their extremely stable carbon-fluorine bonds, making them resistant to environmental degradation—hence often referred to as “forever chemicals.”

MOAH, a subset of mineral oil hydrocarbons alongside MOSH, contains aromatic compounds such as benzene rings and is considered potentially carcinogenic. Due to associated health risks, particularly in food-related applications, regulatory bodies—especially in Europe—require strict control of MOAH contamination. As a result, MOAH-free lubricant formulations are increasingly preferred in applications involving incidental food contact.

Kroto highlighted that the new U.S. facility represents a key milestone in NYCO’s global expansion, enabling the company to deliver high-performance synthetic ester solutions while better addressing the evolving needs of the North American market.
