TotalEnergies Marketing UK has launched a new waste-oil collection and recycling service for customers across the United Kingdom in partnership with Enva. The initiative offers automotive and industrial customers a fully licensed resource-recovery solution aimed at reducing carbon footprints through improved recycling.
The collaboration underpins one of the lubricant industry’s earliest fully circular models. Used oils collected from customer sites will be quality-checked and stored before being transported to the Tecoil facility in Finland, which TotalEnergies acquired in 2024.
At the Tecoil plant, the waste oils are converted into high-performance re-refined base oils (RRBOs). These RRBOs are then used to produce TotalEnergies’ low-carbon EV3R lubricant portfolio, including Quartz products for passenger cars and Rubia lubricants for heavy-duty on-road vehicles.
Benefits for UK automotive and industrial customers
Through this partnership, TotalEnergies customers gain access to Enva’s sustainable waste-management services, delivering several key advantages:
Carbon reduction: Recycling used oils supports the production of lower-carbon RRBOs for the EV3R range.
Regulatory compliance: Enva’s services help ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) requirements.
Operational efficiency: Waste-oil management is streamlined through a single point of contact.
Karoly Repas, General Manager of the lubricants division at TotalEnergies Marketing UK, said the partnership provides a practical and cost-effective way for customers to meet compliance obligations while reducing their environmental impact. He added that combining Enva’s logistics expertise with the Tecoil rerefining facility is a major step toward delivering truly circular lubricants, optimising value from collection to end use.
Michael Sneath, Managing Director of lubricants and batteries at Enva, described the initiative as a distinctive and significant move toward building a full circular economy for lubricants. He noted that Enva will supply waste oils collected nationwide across the UK for reintegration into road-ready products, supported by the company’s extensive collection network and expertise in hazardous waste management, recycling, and industrial cleaning.
