FUCHS Lubricants South Africa has strengthened its presence in the country with the official opening of a new state-of-the-art facility in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. The development marks a major milestone in the German lubricants manufacturer’s strategy to expand capacity and enhance distribution across Southern Africa.
The Gqeberha site is designed to serve key sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, and mining, enabling faster turnaround times and improved service for regional customers. The facility will produce and distribute a broad portfolio of high-performance lubricants, including engine oils, industrial oils, greases, and specialty products.
FUCHS stated that the investment reflects both its confidence in South Africa as a growth market and its commitment to supporting local employment and skills development.
“With this expansion, we are positioning FUCHS to respond more effectively to customer needs while supporting the growth of critical sectors in the South African economy,” said Paul Deppe, Managing Director of FUCHS Lubricants South Africa.
The project follows recent upgrades at the company’s Isando, Johannesburg operations and aligns with FUCHS’s global Strategy 2030, which emphasises investment in emerging markets.
According to industry observers, the expansion strengthens FUCHS’s competitive position in South Africa’s lubricant market—valued at more than 400 million litres annually—while offering a logistical advantage in serving both domestic and export customers.
