Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the nation's leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, announced its 'e For Me' initiative, aiming to seamlessly integrate electric vehicles (EVs) into the lives of Indian consumers. This strategy introduces the company's first electric SUV, the e VITARA, and focuses on developing a comprehensive EV ecosystem.
The 'e For Me' approach consists of two main components:
Electric Products: The e VITARA, designed specifically for Indian customers, is built on the new HEARTECT-e platform and offers a range exceeding 500 km on a single charge, thanks to its 61kWh battery pack.
Electric Ecosystem: Maruti Suzuki plans to establish an extensive EV infrastructure, including smart home chargers with installation support and a network of fast-charging stations in the top 100 cities. The goal is to have a charging point every 5 to 10 km within these cities. Additionally, the company is preparing 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops across over 1,000 cities, staffed with specially trained personnel and equipped to handle all EV-related support, including charging. Roadside assistance will also be available nationwide.
Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, emphasized India's role as the global manufacturing base for the company's battery electric vehicles, citing the country's quality products and scale advantages.
This initiative aligns with India's "Make in India" campaign and represents a significant step in Maruti Suzuki's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
