FUCHS Lubricants (UK) plc has strengthened production capabilities at its Stoke-on-Trent facility through investment in additional filling capacity and upgraded manufacturing control systems, responding to sustained demand across core market segments.

The company confirmed the installation and commissioning of two advanced filling lines aimed at boosting output, increasing operational flexibility, and enhancing customer service performance.

One of the new systems is an Omori pouch filler—an eight-stage rotary filling machine developed for FUCHS’ lubricant pouch packaging format, which the company positions as a more sustainable alternative to conventional plastic bottles. Since its launch last year, the pouch solution has gained strong traction in retail and automotive markets. The Omori line supports fill volumes ranging from one to four litres and ensures consistent product quality through precise filling and reliable sealing.

The second addition is a semi-automatic boom filler designed for larger pack sizes, including 20-litre drums and up to 1,000-litre intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). This system enables quicker product and packaging changeovers while reducing downtime during operations.

Richard Rogers, CEO of FUCHS UK, stated that these investments form part of a broader strategy to address evolving OEM requirements, industry standards, sustainability objectives, and increasing customer expectations regarding quality and service.

In parallel, the company has implemented the Siemens Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to further improve production efficiency, complementing its existing Siemens PCS 7 Simatic Batch platform for process automation and control.

Mark Gray, Head of Operations, noted that the MES enables real-time synchronisation, monitoring, and adjustment of manufacturing processes. Early outcomes have included shorter production cycles and improved asset utilisation.

FUCHS UK employs approximately 350 people, the majority of whom are based at its Stoke-on-Trent site.
